Filmmaker Sony Pictures is developing a feature film titled “Labubu”, to be directed by Paul King, best known for the successful family films Paddington and Wonka.

The project is still in early development. It has not yet been revealed whether the film will be animated or live-action, nor has any casting been announced.

The movie is based on the popular collectible Labubu toys by Pop Mart, recognizable for their distinctive toothy design and created by artist Kasing Lung. The toys became a global phenomenon thanks to the blind box format and their popularity among collectors.

The Labubu film continues Hollywood’s trend of adapting well-known toy brands for the big screen.
